Consultation on UWE Bristol’s New Campus Project – an ambitious plan to extend and improve the University’s main Frenchay campus – started in April with a series of workshops for staff, students and external stakeholders.

A cross section of more than 100 staff (academic and non academic) and students (full time, part time and mature) from across the University took part in the workshops, as did 25 external stakeholders from organisations such as South Gloucestershire Council, Bristol City Council, Avon and Somerset Police, Business West, Avon Wildlife Trust and First Bus. A further 24 students gave their views on the New Campus Project at a ‘Student Voice’ event, a regular forum for canvassing students on topical issues.

The workshops aimed to introduce the New Campus Project, explain the context and scope of the project and invite attendees to respond to the team on issues and ideas at this early stage in the work. Staff and students provided feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of the current campus and the issues and opportunities which they thought the project should address. External stakeholders discussed issues around the impact of the masterplan on the wider area. Summaries of feedback from those sessions are now available to download, along with further information presented at the workshops.
